Overview

Ticket Planet is an immersive 2D time-management and puzzle simulation game where players manage an intergalactic travel agency. As the travel agent, you must welcome diverse, quirky alien clients, decode their requests, cross-reference their demands with the agency's operations manual and daily space news, and stamp their tickets with the correct destination before the countdown timer expires. Managing your budget is key to avoiding bankruptcy in this challenging, high-tension endless loop.

Overview

The Design Challenge

The primary design challenge was balancing a multi-tiered language decoding progression system under time pressure. Players start with simple, readable requests in the 'Common' tongue but must soon translate complex alien dialects using three unique mini-games (symbol substitution ciphers, audio-visual frequency alignments, and visual magnification lenses). Designing these mechanics to feel engaging and solvable within a tight 60-second limit required careful tuning of the game's difficulty curve.

Challenge

Post-Mortem

Reflecting on development, the Papers, Please-inspired deduction loops successfully delivered strategic depth and high engagement. However, if we were to iterate further, we would expand the visual variety of the destination planets and rebalance the daily fixed operational costs. Adjusting the late-game inflation and cost curve more smoothly would help ease the player transition into the frantic bureaucratic chaos of higher level days.
